First past the post: meet our April millionaires

The big prizes came early with one very lucky player landing an incredible £7.5MMillion prize in the 6th April Lotto draw. Less than two weeks later, another lucky Lotto player scored a £5.2MMillion prize in the 17th April draw.

Lotto created a further 10 brand new National Lottery millionaires in April. EuroMillions also had a busy month, with no less than 18 lucky UK players adding six digits to their bank accounts. 10 of those big wins came in the Millionaire Maker draw on 26th April.

April was also the month we caught up with horse racing superfans Elaine and Derek Thompson. The couple, who won an incredible £2.7MMillion Lotto jackpot in 1995, fulfilled their dream of visiting every racecourse in the UK by attending a meet at Ludlow Racecourse in Shropshire.

Derek said, “We have always loved horse racing; it’s such a great atmosphere and over the years I have learned which trainers to follow. We decided after our National Lottery win to travel up and down the UK visiting every race course in the country. Originally there were 61 but two have closed down over the years. Ludlow is our 59th and final race course – we have definitely saved a lovely course for last!”

Meanwhile, April was a great month for Set For Life players. The 15th April draw saw one very lucky player win the game’s top prize of £10,000 every month for 30 years. No less than 11 other players each won Set For Life prizes of £10,000 every month for one year.

Thunderball certainly rumbled in April. The 6th April draw saw a trio of lucky players each win the top prize of £500,000. A few days later another player pocketed a £500,000 Thunderball prize in the 9th April draw.

April’s showers did nothing to dampen the spirits of Instant Win Games players. Three of them each won £1MMillion prizes and a further two players won prizes of £300,000 each.

And April was a truly exciting month for two of our Scratchcard players. One scratched off a £1MMillion prize, another pocketed an incredible £2MMillion Scratchcard prize!
